Christmas Dinner I

So... with no appreciable snow STILL in December -- and on track for the lowest recorded December snowfall -- we pulled a quick daytrip to Chicago on Christmas Day. I'd thought to pack a full camera bag, but finally decided on just the lightweight D100, even though its internal flash doesn't work well. I shot a mix of shots at 1600 ISO and flash --sometimes I remembered to reset to 200 ISO, but some of the flash shots were at 1600 ISO, and so were pretty dreadful.

When we got in, I had to let the D100 warm up. It had gotten buried under a couple of bags, and so without car heat, the battery had dropped low enough I had to reset the clock. I had to nurse the battery along -- of course I hadn't packed a second battery, since I didn't bring a bag.

So forgive the crappy quality...

Mrs. Dr. Phil had gotten a box from Amazon -- her gift was supposed to be giftwrapped. Instead the box came in a swell blue fabric gift bag with a gold ribbon. Unexpected and rather nice. (Click on photo for larger.)
