T+3 Days (Tuesday)

A quiet day at the office. Or at least at home.

I had hoped to hear from either OT or PT today, to keep on moving forward. Finally called Scheduling around 4PM. They have someone lined up for PT, who will call maybe tomorrow (Wednesday), but still trying to schedule the OT person.

Still moving cautiously in the house. Not only is it a much tighter fit than a hospital, but the softer carpeting makes for a less sure walking surface. Because I am using two canes around the house right now, it makes it difficult to carry things. I had my lunch sandwich in a Tupperware™ sandwich keeper, which I had in my lunch bag with a bottle of water. That I could manage with the canes. I still haven't slept the night in bed, but it is feeling better every day.

Haven't had a Coke since the beginning of May.

I need to start charging batteries and checking out the cameras. Maybe tomorrow.

Between Country Captain, a curried dish, and a meatloaf, it has been so swell to be eating real food. And it is nice to be home, even if I am confined for the moment. The second stage of rehab is coming and we shall make it through that, too.

Oh, and there's no nanny software on our WiFi at home. So a number of perfectly normal websites I visit from time to time are open again. Freedom!

More anon.

What's up with all this spam?

I keep getting these unintelligible comments over on LiveJournal -- first on older posts and now on more recent ones. I am assuming these are attempts to get on my Friends list or otherwise engage me in a dialogue so they can try to sell/scam me. Nearly all are poorly written and published by Anonymous. I'd really like to keep Anonymous posting open, and so far the numbers of these weird comments is low. But...

From yesterday's T+3 Days post:
When the imposed time matures, you will be called for to return the vehicle to the business.
Mucch of this new design came not in its appearance
but iin what is found underneath the hood.
This also gives you and your guests time to relax before and after all the festivities and can be treated as
a short break.
I am sure you thought that this was germane to my discussion of being home finally from the hospital. I'm just not seeing it. No, really, it's me not you. Also, remember when you are returning the vehicle to the business, slip the keys through the Return slot in the door if it's after hours. And make sure you log the miles.

From the T+1 Day post:
Hi there! This blog post could not be written any better! Looking through
this article reminds me of my previous roommate! He constantly kept preaching about this.

I'll forward this article to him. Fairly certain he'll have a very good read.
Many thanks for sharing!
As a generic comment, this isn't so bad. Who wouldn't be flattered to have someone rave about my discussion of "this", whatever "this" is.

From the When Pro Markets Aren't post of 9/3/2010:
Very soon this web site will be famous among all blogging and site-building users, due to it's fastidious content
Fame and Fortune and Fastidiousness shall be mine! All you other monkey bloggers can just despair!

WOW just what I was searching for. Came here by searching for british business electricity prices
The lack of a final period on several of these is not sloppiness on my part. I fear Twitter and texting is ruining the written word. And British business electricity prices? In a post about potentially scam SF/F writing markets? Man, someone is lost.

From the 46/30/4 post on writing my last WOTF story on the Kindle Fire HD:
Hi there, its nice post about media print,
we all know media is a wonderful source of facts.
Still trying to wrap my brain about this one.

Yes! Finally something about cold call email for job.
This one definitely is responding to not only the wrong blog entry, but I think the wrong blog.

I'm curious to find out what blog platform you happen to be using?

I'm experiencing some minor security problems with my latest blog and
I wouldd like tto find something more safeguarded. Do you
have any recommendations?
Um, this was posted on LiveJournal. Crossposted from Dreamwidth. Does that help? I didn't think so. Also, this guy needs a new keyboard -- his keeps repeating letters.

Oseeteo Start Your Own Edible Arrangement Fruit
Bouquet Business uuittuak oiovhiyo!
FINALLY something more truly spamlike. Do you think the Edible Arrangements people -- a fine product by the way -- know about this franchise?

And last but not least, from back on 4/23/2007, the perennially popular with spammers International Pixel-Stained Technopeasant Day post:
This Incredible Wordpress Plugin Is The Lastest In WP Massacre
And has Taken The Internet By Storm. * Keyword Luv This plugin enables you to have your
keyword featured in the name field for blog comments while at the same time satisfying webmasters by simultaneously inserting your
name. Initially when I first started out blogging, I had
not a clue what plug-ins were, what their purpose was, or exactly how they could make my blog superior.
Of course, maybe it's just me, but I compose these entries on Dreamwidth and crosspost on LJ, so I'm not sure what good a WordPress plugin in going to do for me -- unless you want me to install a keylogger for you. Sorry, thanks but no thanks.

Note too that not one of these have active links, so you have to work at either finding their links or engaging in conversation. To which I say -- my professional consulting rate is $150/hour, minimum of three hours if you need me to do your work.

As I have posted before, we need a better level of scammer on the Internet. These are just embarrassing.

Oh, and I screen all Anonymous posts. There's a Policy on Anonymous and Spam Comments in the margins on LJ. Needless to say those above are all starving to death in the queue.

The World Serious

The World Series starts tonight. Alas, it will be without the Detroit Tigers. I mean, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox will likely provide a good show. Still, I would've taken the Midwest series of Detroit and St. Louis -- would that make it a Chicago transfer series and change trains at Union Station -- or the B-card of Tigers and Dodgers.

Wasn't a great weekend for Dr. Phil in sports. Northwestern lost, too. Sigh.

Oh well.

Just wait til next year...

T+4 Days (Wednesday)

Spoke to the nurse at the insurance company that oversees my case. She and Mrs. Dr. Phil have spoken a lot. Touching base and making sure I'm getting the home care I need.

To that end PT comes tomorrow afternoon. Still awaiting word on OT or Scheduling gets another call.

Annoying fact -- the edema in my legs is slowly coming back. Partly caused by more hours in the day up and zero hours in bed with the left leg propped up or the bed with feet elevated. For one, our bed doesn't have those moves. And I have to lie on my side in bed. But... I am still not sleeping much in the bed, so hours of sleeping in a chair are bad for my legs.

While in the hospital, I've been using my right compression stocking, which used to be loose, just so there'd be something on my foot and heel. Two months ago we put on a left compression stocking and laughed at the huge gap between skin and sock. Tonight we put one on under the gray sock I walk around in. Saggy at the top, as expected, feels comfortable on the foot. For those areas of the left foot for which feeling has a value. (my-left-foot-grin)

Definitively something to bring up.

I am getting better at getting up from the various chairs -- or at those that I have tried. Trying to ensure that I am getting up a lot.

Bed is feeling more comfortable. I am sure I will be able to sleep normally Real Soon Now.
