NO-OOOOOO! (But I Understand)

I was just going to do one last thing before packing off to bed. But the headline in the MLive feed in my email made me pause.

Schuler's is closing their Alpine book store.

To be fair, I haven't been to the Alpine store in most of a year. To be fairer, I haven't been in any stores in most of a year with my illness and recovery.

And the article is right. Although we really liked having a Schuler's in the northwest corner of G.R., it's hard to get in and out of, especially if you have multiple shopping to do.

Of course the southeast store on 28th Street has its own problems, starting with it being on the far side of G.R. We don't do Chicago stuffed pizza enough for the very same reason. Technically, I think that means the Barnes & Nobles in Holland will be our nearest real bookstore.

Markdowns start Friday 14 February 2014. They hope to shut down by sometime in March.

End of an era. Wonder if I can stand to wield the walker through the mob Real Soon Now.
